OFFICIAL RULES FOR SCHLOGGIN A dart game for everyone. Introduction This game was contrived out of a necessity for a break from the other dart games. Sheer boredom I guess. We needed a game that offered a challenge and opportunity whether we were hot or not, and also added an elemnt of chance. The concept was originally mine but I must give credit and thanks to friends who spent hours playing the game. I would also like to thank all my friends who became addicted to Schloggin and provided feedback. Schloggin, or "Strike", as the meaning implies is a new dart game based on concepts and scoring modes along the lines of bowling and 21. As in Bowling, you have ten "frames". A strike or a spare constitute extra earnings. But, a strike doesn't preclude you from the throws remaining in the frame. As in a game of 21, that's what it take to strike or spare. And now you add the dartboard with it's combination of numbers, doubles and triples. So lets get on with it with some basic definitions. The board: Is the standard layout. Doubles (outer narrow ring) and triples (inner narrow ring count as in other dart games or in combinations thereof. A bullseye counts as 21 (in the green) or a double (42) in the red. For point accumulations equaling 21, a triple can count as a single, a double or triple, a double as such or it's single value. As point additions to strikes and spares, full value applies with the exception that an outer bullseye is a double (or 42) and the inner counts as 63. Variation: You may alter the game as far as what the bullseye ring points are worth. They can both be 21 or 21 for the outer and 42 for the inner. A game: Consists of ten frames of 3 darts per frame. As in bowling, spares or strikes in the 10th frame may earn one or two additional throws respectively. A frame: Consists of 3 throws in which the goal may be to: -"STRIKE" (hit the bullseye (or a triple seven = 21)) on the first dart of the frame, or -"SPARE" by completing a combination equal to 21 points with the remaining two or one darts, or -add points to current or previous strikes or spares. The Strike: Getting a bullseye or a triple 7 on the first dart of a frame constitute a strike. Your next two throws (to finish out the frame) yield an "upper line score for the frame. (Note:Hitting the inner bullseye attributes an immediate 21 points to the upper line score. The first two throws of your next frame yield a "lower line" score for this frame. A strike in the 10th frame yields two extra darts to throw for lower line points. You can't total a striked frame until the first two darts have been thrown in the post frame. The Spare: A cumulation of points within a frame equaling but not exceeding 21 points. Let's say you don't hit Strike on the first dart or you are shooting for numbers. You hit the 15 single. A spare can be acheived by hitting a 6, a 3 double, a two triple or even a bullseye on the second or third dart. With 3 darts one could attain a spare by hitting 15 (or a 5 triple), a 1, and a 5 (total = 21) or by hitting 15 twice, a 6, a 3 double or a 2 triple. There's a lot of possibilities. Point accumulations over 21 do not count. A spare on the second dart leaves you with one dart to attempt upper line points. A double or a triple is nice right about now. A spare always gives you the maximum point value of the next dart in the post frame to add as a lower line score to this frame as well as what it may apply to for that frame. You can't total a spared frame until the first dart has been thrown in the post frame. Non Spare or Strike frame. Maximum frame accumulation is < 21 (if you have 21 you have a spare). Any combination of points that is less than 21 is applied to the current frame. A spare or a strike in the previous frame can draw on maximun point values from the first 1 or 2 darts in the post frame. Recommended scoring sheet: Player one Player two ____ ____ Frame 1 | |______ | |______ ______|____| ______|____| ____ ____ Frame 2 | |______ | |______ . ______|____| ______|____| . . . . ____ ____ Frame 10 | |______ | |______ ______|____| ______|____| Scoring in a frame: Left (lowest) horizontal line: This is where the total for the game is indicated. The "box": Mark an 'X' in the box to indicate a strike or a '/' to indicate a spare. If neither a strike or a spare is achieved, enter the total ( equal to or less than 20) in the box. Right horizontal (perpendiculare and centered to the right of the box) line: Above the line enter your upper line (points accumulated after achieving a strike or a spare during the current frame) score. Below the line enter your points from the NEXT fram providing you got a strike or a spare in THIS frame. ____ ____ Frame n | |_______ | |______ ______|____| ______|____| Variations: A strike or a spare can end the frame only leaving the possibility of a score addition due to following frames and not current frame. Players can choose a two darts per frame game. Doubles count as singles. Triples count as doubles. Odd numbers double only or even numbers double only. Triples only count on odd or even numbers. Bullseye not doubled or tripled. Schloggin. Copyright 1992
