Life as a Rock
Imagine if you will. You spend thousands of years on the bottom of the ocean. Then one
day some kelp seed comes to visit you and decides it likes your company. An attachment
forms. You watch the kelp grow and the attachment grows stronger each passing day.
Then one day the currents and the kelp's grasp outweighs your mass and
lifts you from your longtime resting spot in the deep. You are suddenly thrust upon
a world of sand, sun and air.

It is not uncommon to find rocks bigger than bowling balls washed up on the beach in this manner. |
